Apothecaries can create Tinctures and Elixirs using Ingredients and Recipes, but all brewing must be done in a Laboratory. To make a Tincture or Elixir, a character must know the Recipe for that item. The post office will maintain a record of all Recipes a character has learned.

A full list of available Recipes will be made available as soon as possible.

Recipes

A Recipe is a piece of knowledge, not a physical item. It represents a character’s ability to brew a specific Tincture or Elixir.

There are two types of Recipes:

  • Tincture Recipes – Used to create Tinctures, which are often simple potions with immediate effects. Some Tinctures can also be used as Ingredients in more advanced brewing.
  • Elixir Recipes – Used to create Elixirs, which are more complex and often have stronger or longer-lasting effects.

Each Tincture or Elixir will require between 1 and 5 Ingredients, depending on its Recipe.

Ingredients

Ingredients are required to brew Tinctures and Elixirs. They can be:

  • Basic Ingredients – Found in-game from various sources.
  • Crafted Ingredients – Some Tinctures can be used as Ingredients when making an Elixir.

How to Brew a Tincture or Elixir

  1. Ensure you have access to a Laboratory—this can be a personal or shared space set up in-game.
  2. Roleplay brewing for at least 5 minutes, representing the process of preparing the mixture.
  3. Gather the required Ingredients.
  4. Visit the post office and hand in the necessary Ingredients.
  5. The post office will issue an item card representing the brewed Tincture or Elixir.

Example Brewed Item

Soother’s Draught

  • Recipe Type: Tincture
  • Requires: Laboratory, 1x Iron Bark (Basic Ingredient), 1x Tough Root (Basic Ingredient), 2x Divine Dew (Basic Ingredient)
  • Effect: Ingesting this Tincture will instantly restore 1 Hit Point.
  • Uses: Single-use item, consumed upon use.

Acquiring Ingredients

Ingredients can be found in-game from various sources, including:

  • The post office
  • Other players
  • Special encounters
  • Apothecaries refining or brewing specific Tinctures

While some Ingredients may be available for purchase, it is often more cost-effective to have an in-game Apothecary prepare complex mixtures—provided they have the correct Recipe and a Laboratory to work in.

Learning New Recipes

If an Apothecary learns a new Recipe during the game, they must inform the post office so it can be added to their records.
