Useful things to know

From Wyld West Wiki

How old do I have to be to attend?

Currently Wyld West is an event open to anyone over the age of 18.

What to bring?

You will need whatever costume, weapons and props that your character has. Be prepared for hot and cold, wet and dry! Bring warm clothing; it can get cold at night, and the game remains timed in for at least four or five hours after sunset. A good tent is essential: cheap supermarket pop ups, for example, are great if the weather is fine, but often aren’t capable of withstanding more extreme weather. Food and drinks (not just alcohol) for the event. Always make sure you have any medication that you need and that it is a safe and secure place, and that someone else knows where it is in case of an emergency. If you have any medication that requires refrigeration, then please inform the organisers and they will ensure that it is kept in a safe, suitable place for you.

Food and drink

There is an in-character bar providing alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, players are also free to bring their own drinks, but asked not to consume them within the bar due to licensing laws. The event is not catered, so players should bring food and the means to cook that food with them. If possible Wyld West will be attracting an outside caterer, information about this will be placed on the social media pages closer to an event.

Event team

Wyld west will have somebody available on 24 hour call out and trained first aiders amongst the crew and player base. Any member of staff with a radio will be able to call medics to an area.

Post Office

Game Organisation Desk (GOD) A critical part of any LRP event is the game administration prior to and during events. At Wyld West we do not have a GOD desk, instead we have a post office, here you will find at least one member of our team during time in, that has an expert knowledge of the rules and their deployment for effective play. The post office can deal with anything from characters' money to resource gathering and exchange as well as helping a player to create a character if the unspeakable should happen and the character they signed up with should die.

Out of Character (OOC) area

At Wyld West events there is a dedicated OOC camping area some distance from the In Character (IC) playing area. The bathroom facilities are also considered to be OOC. Everywhere else on the site is IC during time in, unless an area is specifically deemed to be OOC, e.g. if there is an emergency or obstacle.

Time-in

Wyld West run “time-in” from 10am until 1am every full day of an event. On the first day of an event (usually Friday) time-in is at 7pm and events tend to time out on the last day at around 2pm. Sometimes circumstances such as extreme weather or serious traffic problems dictate a change of time-in or time-out at an event, in this case the event team will advise players of any changes.

Finally

Never be afraid to ask any question. Everybody was new to LRP at some stage and probably had the same questions as you do, so just ask!
