Crafting Items

From Wyld West Wiki

Crafting Items

Crafting allows characters to create in-game items using crafting components and schematics, but all crafting must be done in a workshop. To craft an item, a character must know the schematic for that item. The post office will maintain a record of all schematics a character has learned.

A full list of available schematics will be made available as soon as possible.

Schematics

A schematic is a piece of knowledge, not a physical item. It represents a character’s ability to craft a specific item.

Schematics are divided into three levels:

  • Minor Schematics – Simple and common, these allow the creation of basic items. Most minor schematics produce items that can be used as components for crafting with intermediate or major schematics.
  • Intermediate Schematics – More advanced, requiring greater skill or refined components. Items made with these schematics can sometimes be used as crafting components.
  • Major Schematics – Complex and rare, requiring significant effort to acquire. Items crafted using a major schematic can never be used as a component.

Each crafted item will require between 1 and 5 components, depending on its schematic level.

Crafting Components

Crafting components come in two types:

  • Basic Components – These are items that can be found in-game through various means.
  • Crafted Components – Some items made from minor and intermediate schematics can also be used as components in further crafting. However, items made using a major schematic will never be used as a component.

How to Craft an Item

  1. Ensure you have access to a workshop—this can be a personal or shared space set up in-game.
  2. Roleplay crafting for at least 5 minutes, representing the process of working on the item.
  3. Gather the required crafting components.
  4. Visit the post office and hand in the necessary components.
  5. The post office will issue an item card representing the crafted item.

Example Crafted Item

Quality Surgical Tools

  • Schematic Level: Intermediate
  • Requires: Workshop, 2x Steel (Basic Component), 1x Screws (Basic Component), 1x Grinding Stone (Basic Component)
  • Effect:
    • Allows a Medical Practitioner to halve the time it takes to perform surgery (minimum 5 minutes).
    • If used with the ‘Medicine’ sub-skill, surgery time is halved again (minimum 2.5 minutes).
  • Uses: Can be used 3 times, after which it is destroyed and cannot be repaired.

Acquiring Crafting Components

Crafting components can be found in-game from various sources, including:

  • The post office
  • Other players
  • Special encounters
  • Crafters producing components

While some components may be available for purchase, it is often more cost-effective to have an in-game crafter refine or produce crafted components—provided they have the correct schematic and a workshop.

Learning New Schematics

If a crafter learns a new schematic during the game, they must inform the post office so it can be added to their records.
